1997 Fossil Collectors Club Watch

Had the opportunity to pick this up a few days ago for $10. It's a brand new 1997 Fossil Collectors Club Limited Edition watch. Watch has a travel theme (face is a compass).

I've actually seen some variations in this watch only with the band. People claim it's new and the band is black or brown leather. I've even seen it new with a metal or stainless steel band. The model number never changes.

I'm still on the hunt for the kit that came with this watch. Kit had a travel theme much like the watch,  the tin looked like an old piece of luggage and inside was a postcard and a little globe piece with a rocket. Very cool piece from what I remember. Not sure of the literature or other materials included in the tin, but I'll find out ;)

Fossil Soccer Club

Being less than 2 weeks away from the start of the 2010 World Cup, I found a nice tie-in to my love of soccer and Fossil watches. This watch is listed in the Fossil Limited Edition Checklist - it was released in May 1994 and had a 20,000 unit run. I wish I would have bought this watch, it recently sold on eBay for $15.50. Reminds me very much of my Cruise-O-Matic watch with the Fossil Authentic dial, full tin and a little pin. Any idea how many Authentic dials exist?

Fossil Radio & TV Watches

Since the post on Fossil Appliances watches I have found out a little bit more information on these unique watches. There were 2 watches in the series and they both had a run of 20,000 pieces. They were part of the limited edition watches and released back in August 1994. Recently 2 of them were up on eBay and sold for $25-$30. I'd like to get my hands on both of them.

Unique Fossil black watch BQ-8487

I picked this watch up recently and I love it. It's hard to describe what it is. It's not a chronograph, but it has the dials on the face that tell the month, day of the week and the date. I am anxious to get a battery in it and see it go.

I bought this watch because it is closest thing I've seen to that vintage 40's/50's look that I love so much. Best part is I paid $15 for the watch and it came in a nice tin with the original paperwork and sleeve.

The last picture is something I've not seen before and it's just a piece of cardboard that rests in the top of the tin. Not sure of the purpose it served or on what watches/tins they were included with, but click on it and check out the image. Very cool piece of work.

Fossil Limited Edition Watch Check List

Found this handy document in my 1995 Fossil Collector's Club kit the other day. Forgot it was there and it's a nice listing of all the limited edition watches Fossil did from their first limited edition (SK 5038) in March 1992 up until LE 9457 Rodeo Watch done in December 1994. Anything after that we'll have to amend this as we go!

Amendment in 2012 - In our Facebook group is an ex-Fossil employee. He graciously helped us put together a new version of the limited edition check list below with many, many additions. Happy collecting!

Guide to the Fossil Defender Series

The Underground Fossil Collectors Club gets a lot of traffic from Google searches looking for information on Fossil Defender or Fossil Defender Watches. Going forward and for the rest of my life as I get information on Fossil Defender watches I am going to post a guide for these watches. In the guide we'll have a picture, description with model number. The guide will be permanently located as a navigation item on the top of the site.

Guide to Fossil Defender Series watches

My second Fossil watch – a semi skeleton watch

I have several reasons why I love Fossil watches and one of the reasons is that it seems like at every moment of my life I received or bought a Fossil watch to commemorate the occasion. This lets me be sentimental with watches that represent various times in my life without hoarding massively large objects :)

On one of those occasions I received this watch as a gift from my youth pastor at our church when I became an Eagle Scout. He knew how much I loved my Cruise O Matic watch and continued the trend by buying me this watch and presenting it to me at my Court of Honor in July 1997 - thank you Jim Cole!

I wore this watch from 1997-1999 and it never failed me. Great little watch. I don't remember what all worked from a gear perspective, but it is definitely not a full skeleton watch.

Fossil SK-4929

Watch details:

  • Fossil semi-skeleton watch.
  • Model #SK-4929
  • Water Resistant Construction. No wording on how deep.
  • Says Authentic Fossil Product on the back. Not a limited series.

1998 Fossil Collectors Club Kit

In my attempt to get all the Fossil Collector's Club Kits without breaking the bank, I got my hands on the following set from 1998. It came up on eBay for less than $10, but of course it doesn't include the train-themed pocket watch. Still a pretty neat piece though.

I do have some questions on this piece such as:

  1. Was there any other documentation or brochures for 1998?
  2. Anyone have the pocketwatch for sale? Or at least some pictures to share?

1996 Fossil Collectors Club Kit

Recently I unearthed a 1996 Fossil Collectors Club kit. Item is completely brand new, but it is missing the Fred Q Fossil bobblehead. I love these kits and I wish Fossil would still do them. Included are some images of the various components of the "All You Can Eat Level" set of the 1996 Fossil Collectors Club kit.

Fossil Airplane Watches

Here's an auction that has peaked my interest. 4 different versions of the Fossil airplane watch. 2 of them are limited edition versions, one being from the Around the World Series (LE-9451) and the other was the first limited edition watch ever done by Fossil in 1992, the gold airplane on a skelton face (SK-5038). This is the last watch on the right. I'll definitely be watching this auction (and I missed it).

The airplane watches on eBay lately have been doing well, much better than Captain Fossil :)
